NO STARS -- Never worked July 27, 2010 TigressP81 (New York) I ordered this when Amazon had a "special deal" for it. It was a special deal, all right. I paid $130, and the thing never worked. Unfortunately, the first couple of times I tried it, I didn't have time to troubleshoot, so I just put it aside. When I did get a chance to really try to get it working (checking the flip website etc), it still didn't work. And it was outside Amazon's return window, so now I've got something that never worked even once, for which I paid $130. Great. Is it possible to give NO STARS?
New Product Has Defective Battery---I Hope September 8, 2008 Nich-KY 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
This Flip Camcorder has a built-in, rechargeable battery that needs to be replaced, and I have to send it back to the factory to correct the problem. Very Inconvenient! It is still under a 90 day warranty and they are suppose to give me a working cam without any charge. It is very frustrating to buy a cam, take it on vacation with hopes you will get lots of great videos, but the darn thing doesn't work. It worked for about 30 minutes and then shut down. It appears that the battery is weak and defective because it won't take a charge. Strange that this wasn't discovered in testing before being sent out to the public. Who was suppose to have caught this, the battery manufacturer or the camcorder people? Regardless, I will not give this product a favorable rating until I get a good one in my hand so I can use it. Until then, I give it the lowest rating.
Huh? I don't get the hype.... January 9, 2009 Maura K. Ahearne (Seattle, WA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered and received the Flip Mino over the holidays and was very disappointed in the quality of the video. First, it is nearly impossible to hold the camcorder steady. And I have very steady hands. Looking at the recorded video was like riding a roller coaster. Very shaky and very distracting. Second, the video itself was grainy, colors were drastically wrong. Faces were odd shades, clothing was not accurate and panning from a train over to my son on the beach in flat light, everything was blue - my son, the beach, everything. He's five years old and when we were watching back on the TV, he said, "Papa, why is everything blue?"
The encoding app that comes with the device is equally as lame - no way to really adjust any of the settings/bitrates.
All in all, I was quite disappointed and returned the unit. I know it's only $150, but I don't think that I get much worse video from my phone....
TERRIBLE DON'T BUY IT!!! WARNING!!! March 9, 2010 Red Lion 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
CAUTION-- if your thinking about buying this product-- STOP NOW!!!! I purchased the camera when it first came out (less then a year ago) and now it's dead. I called tech support and the only offer a 90 day warranty and that's it. There is no repair service or anything for the product. So you are stuck with a piece of junk plastic. If you don't want to have a headache, DON'T BUY!!!!!!!!!!

I tried charging my brand new Flip video when I opened the box. It comes with an adapter and can also be charged through the USB port on your computer.
The battery status bar showwed about a 35% charge when I started and showed a 35% charge 12 HOURS later. It is supposed to charge in 2 hours. Three calls to tech support later and I was off to the UPS store. I assume Amazon will credit my account. Why would I want a replacement for that poor a product.
